When my sister offered to organize me a Baby-Shower, I said “great, I have some cool ideas too”. She replied by kindly telling me that no, with her organizing it, it meant that I got to relax and not do a thing. Me, an event planner, could not quite grasp that concept. Then I remembered, my sister has always been my inspiration, the one who did all the cool things first, so I could probably trust her to throw a party that I would love. And then when a beautiful friend who has known me the best over the past 10 years, also offered to help, I thought “this will be perfect”!
So last Sunday, my closest friends and family joined me for a beautiful day I will cherish forever. We travelled up to Auburn (in the Clare Valley) where my sister had booked a beautiful rustic private room at the back of the local pub/hotel. Two long tables (have I mentioned I loved long tables!) were decorated with stunning colourful flowers arranged in cute vintage jars, designed and arranged by my very talented friend Leanne. (I still have one on my dining room table and only wish it would last forever!). And although I said I wouldn’t do a thing to help organize the day, I was allowed to take care of the guest gifts. Something that I have been planning for months – a Baby Tunes CD! In the fun emotional state that I am in these days, I had a collection of beautiful songs that would either make me cry happy tears, or make me dance around happy, every time I heard them. They were songs and lyrics that would sing straight to my heart and soul at this time in our lives, celebrating this amazing new adventure we are embarking on! So I just had to put them on a CD to share with my nearest and dearests. After a beautiful lunch I got even more spoilt, and was literally ‘showered’ in gifts, I felt so lucky! Throw in a few fun games to play, good chats and catch ups, and the whole day was just perfect. I can’t thank the girls enough for organizing it all x
